Ceiling Soundproofing

Acoustic Ceiling

An acoustic ceiling is often the most important element in improving sound insulation between floors, whether you're reducing noise from neighbours, improving privacy within your home, or meeting the acoustic requirements of a commercial project.

Our range of acoustic ceiling systems and soundproofing materials is designed to reduce airborne noise, impact sound and vibration transfer through floor and ceiling constructions. Effective ceiling soundproofing is built around three key principles: insulation, isolation and mass.

Our acoustic ceiling collection includes acoustic insulation, resilient bars, clip and channel systems, acoustic plasterboard, acoustic ceiling boards, Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV), ceiling barriers and complete ceiling soundproofing systems.

Suitable for timber and concrete floors, homes, flats, apartments, offices and commercial buildings, these products are trusted by soundproofing contractors throughout the UK. Whether you're upgrading an existing ceiling or constructing a new acoustic ceiling system, we provide everything required to achieve effective sound insulation and improved acoustic performance.

Troldtekt acoustic is a classic acoustic panel that can be incorporated into most designs while creating a uniform surface that provides visual calm and elegance.Troldtekt acoustic is ideal for spaces with a special need for good acoustics, such as classrooms, institutions and swimming pools. Ideally, the classic acoustic panels should be mounted on both the ceilings and parts of the walls to ensure even higher sound absorption.

Which Ceiling Soundproofing Solution Do I Need?

Ceiling soundproofing is commonly used to reduce noise transferring between floors, particularly where sound from an upstairs room or neighbouring property is travelling through the ceiling structure.

For voices, television and music from above, the aim is to reduce airborne sound. Acoustic insulation within the ceiling void, combined with dense soundproofing boards and isolation, can help reduce the amount of sound passing into the room below.

For footsteps and impact noise, vibration can travel through the floor and ceiling structure. Decoupling the new ceiling using resilient bars or another isolation method can help reduce this structural transmission, particularly when used as part of a complete system. Sound can also travel through adjoining walls and other structural connections, so wall soundproofing solutions may need to be considered where flanking transmission is contributing to the problem.

For existing ceilings, the most suitable approach will depend on whether the ceiling can be removed or whether a new soundproofing layer needs to be installed beneath it. Available ceiling height is also an important consideration.

The strongest results usually come from combining absorption, mass and isolation rather than relying on one product alone. For more demanding projects, a complete acoustic ceiling system can combine these elements into a specified build-up.
