Product Information
Troldtekt Acoustic Panel 25mm – Natural Wood Ultrafine K0
Troldtekt Acoustic Wooden Panel is designed to reduce reverberation and improve speech clarity when installed on ceilings and walls. Each panel measures 1200 x 600 x 25mm and features a square edge for a clean, simple installation and modern aesthetic.
The Natural Wood finish retains the characteristic appearance of cement-bonded wood wool, making it particularly well suited to classrooms, offices, restaurants, leisure spaces, communal areas and contemporary interiors where both acoustic performance and natural materials are important.
Key Benefits
- Acoustic ceiling and wall panel: helps control reverberation and reflected sound within busy interior spaces.
- Ultrafine 1.0mm structure: provides a finer, more refined visual texture than the coarser Troldtekt structures while retaining the distinctive wood wool appearance.
- K0 square edge: creates clean straight joints between adjoining panels without a bevelled edge.
- Natural Wood finish: retains the natural appearance of the cement-bonded wood wool without a factory-applied coloured finish.
- Ceiling and wall installation: suitable for direct fixing to timber battens as well as compatible Troldtekt ceiling and profile systems.
- Long service life: Troldtekt panels are designed as a durable long-term interior acoustic finish that can be cleaned, maintained and repaired.
- Easy to maintain: Natural Wood panels can be vacuum cleaned, wiped with a slightly damp cloth and lightly sanded where appropriate.
- Fire classification: Troldtekt Acoustic is classified B-s1,d0 for reaction to fire.
Applications
Troldtekt Acoustic panels are designed for use as acoustic ceiling and wall linings. Typical applications include schools, classrooms, nurseries, offices, meeting rooms, restaurants, cultural buildings, leisure facilities, communal spaces and residential interiors where excessive reverberation can reduce comfort and speech intelligibility.
The Natural Wood finish works particularly well alongside timber, exposed construction materials and neutral interior finishes, allowing the acoustic treatment to form part of the architectural design.
How It Works
The open cement-bonded wood wool structure allows sound energy to enter the panel rather than simply being reflected back into the room. This helps reduce reverberation and improve the overall acoustic quality of the space.
Final acoustic performance depends on the complete installation, including panel thickness, mounting depth, backing materials and the supporting ceiling or wall construction.
Acoustic performance: Troldtekt Acoustic systems can achieve sound absorption performance up to Class A and an absorption coefficient of up to αw 1.00, depending on the complete installation build-up. We recommend using RWA45 50mm slabs behind timber battons for best performance.
Construction & Finish
Troldtekt Acoustic panels are manufactured from cement-bonded wood wool, combining the natural characteristics of wood with the strength and durability of cement.
This version features the refined Ultrafine 1.0mm structure, Natural Wood finish and K0 square edge.
Natural material: slight variations in colour, tone and surface appearance should be expected between Natural Wood panels. These variations are a normal characteristic of the natural wood material and form part of the finished appearance.
Long Service Life & Maintenance
Troldtekt acoustic panels are designed as a long-lasting acoustic finish. Their durable cement-bonded wood wool construction allows panels to be cleaned, refreshed and locally repaired rather than routinely replaced.
Easy to Clean
Troldtekt panels normally require very little maintenance. Dust and general dirt can be removed using a vacuum cleaner with an ordinary brush attachment or a slightly damp cloth.
Marks on untreated Natural Wood panels can also be carefully removed using fine-grained sandpaper where appropriate.
Painting Natural Wood Troldtekt Panels
If the interior design changes in future, untreated Natural Wood Troldtekt panels can be painted using a suitable water-based acrylic paint.
For untreated Natural Wood panels, Troldtekt recommends approximately 525g/m² applied in two coats. For larger areas, spray application is recommended. Care should always be taken not to completely close the open wood wool structure with excessive paint.
Minor Repairs
If small holes or cracks occur, local repairs can be carried out using matching cement-bonded wood wool taken from a spare panel or sample.
Where a panel has suffered major damage, for example from moisture or soot, replacement of the affected panel is recommended.
Maintenance tip: retain a small number of spare panels after installation. These can be useful for future local repairs or replacement if a panel becomes seriously damaged.

Direct Fix Installation
Troldtekt Acoustic K0 panels can be installed directly to timber battens on both ceilings and walls. They can also be fixed to compatible Troldtekt steel profile systems where required.
1. Plan the Panel Layout
Start by installing a complete row of Troldtekt panels along the centre line of the ceiling or wall, then continue on both sides.
The panels should be installed closely together. Troldtekt recommends a broken-bond arrangement where appropriate for the best visual result.
2. Install the Timber Battens
For direct fixing to timber, Troldtekt specifies battens with a minimum size of 22 x 95mm. Both longitudinal and transverse batten layouts can be used, subject to the chosen construction.
The wall and ceiling installation guidance shows a maximum spacing of 600mm between supporting battens.
3. Fix the Panels
Fix the panels using Troldtekt structure screws positioned approximately 20mm from the panel edges.
For each 1200 x 600 x 25mm panel, use 6 screws. For direct fixing to suitable timber or thin steel, Troldtekt 4.2 x 45mm structure screws are recommended.
Take care not to overdrive the washered screw heads, as this may cause indentation in the panel surface.
4. Keep the Joints Consistent
Install the K0 square-edge panels closely together and maintain straight, consistent joints across the completed surface.
Direct fix summary:
- Minimum timber batten size: 22 x 95mm
- Maximum batten spacing: 600mm
- Screws per 1200 x 600mm panel: 6
- Screw position: approximately 20mm from panel edges
- Recommended screw for timber: 4.2 x 45mm Troldtekt structure screw
Ceiling Installation
For ceilings, Troldtekt panels can be installed onto longitudinal or transverse timber battens. Timber battens should be a minimum of 22 x 95mm, with the supporting layout installed at a maximum spacing of 600mm.
Where insulation and a vapour check are required, Troldtekt recommends placing the vapour check behind the timber battens and tightly against the insulation, subject to the requirements of the complete ceiling construction.
Ceiling guidance: always check that the existing soffit or supporting construction is suitable to carry the additional load of the acoustic panels and timber battens.
Wall Installation
For wall applications, Troldtekt Acoustic panels can also be direct fixed onto minimum 22 x 95mm timber battens with a maximum spacing of 600mm.
The battens can be installed over a suitable structural background or framing system. Where insulation and a vapour check form part of the wall construction, the vapour check should be installed behind the battens in accordance with the complete wall specification.
