Floor Soundproofing

Timber Floating Floors

Our timber floating floor systems provide an acoustic overlay for reducing impact and airborne noise through floors. By creating a resilient layer above the existing structure, they help control sound from footsteps, moving furniture, voices and everyday activity.

Suitable for timber and concrete floor constructions, acoustic floating floor panels are available in different thicknesses and performance levels for homes, flats, conversions and commercial projects, including floor systems where Part E acoustic performance needs to be considered.

For other floor soundproofing options, explore our acoustic flooring range, or view our complete acoustic floor systems for specified floor build-ups.

Which Acoustic Floating Floor Panel Do I Need?

Acoustic floating floor panels combine a rigid floorboard with a resilient acoustic layer to reduce sound transmission through the floor. They are particularly useful where greater acoustic performance or a more substantial floor treatment is required than acoustic underlay alone.

For lower floor build-up, thinner acoustic panels such as dB Panel 17 can provide a practical overlay where available floor height is restricted.

For a balance of acoustic performance and floor build-up, products such as dB Panel 28 provide a thicker acoustic overlay and are suitable for a wide range of floor soundproofing projects.

Where greater mass or structural performance is required, acoustic chipboard products such as dB Panel 32 provide a heavier floating floor solution, while thicker panels such as dB Panel 37 provide another option for more substantial acoustic floor constructions.

For applications requiring a cement particle board, dB Cem Panel 28 provides an alternative to timber-based acoustic overlay panels.

Correct perimeter isolation is important with any floating floor. Flanking strips, perimeter seals and the specified adhesive should be installed as required so the floating layer is not rigidly connected to surrounding walls or structures.
