18mm CaberFloor P5 is a high-strength, moisture-resistant P5 particleboard flooring panel for dry domestic flooring on new-build and refurbishment projects. With a tongue and groove edge on all sides for close fitting joints providing a strong, stable floor deck. Each TG4 sheet measures 2400 x 600 x 18mm.
The 18mm CaberFloor P5 is suitable for joists at centres of up to 450mm and provides an excellent subfloor.

Applications
18mm CaberFloor P5 is intended primarily for floor construction. CaberFloor P5 for dry domestic floors, domestic new-build projects and refurbishment work.
The 18mm TG4 version is particularly suited to suspended timber floor construction where joist spacing does not exceed the manufacturer's stated 450mm centres. It can also form part of suitable flooring build-ups where a strong particleboard deck is required before the final floor covering is installed.
How It Works
CaberFloor P5 creates a structural floor deck from precision-engineered particleboard panels. The profiled tongue-and-groove edges interlock adjacent boards, helping distribute loads and maintain alignment across the floor.
For joisted floors, the boards are laid with their long edges running across the joists and arranged in a staggered pattern. Manufacturing recommends bonding the boards to the joists and applying adhesive within the tongue-and-groove joints to increase joint integrity and help minimise floor movement and creaking.
Construction
CaberFloor P5 is a high-strength P5 particleboard flooring panel with a moisture-resistant specification. This product is the 18mm version with a TG4 profile, meaning the tongue-and-groove joint is machined around all four board edges.
The finished board measures 2400mm long by 600mm wide by 18mm thick. Unlike a square-edged sheet, the interlocking TG4 profile is specifically designed to form continuous flooring decks with secure joints between adjacent boards.

Installation Guide
- Condition the boards. Store the boards in the installation environment for at least 48 hours before laying.
- Check the joists. Joists should be dry and the floor should not be installed in wet conditions.
- Plan the board direction. Install TG4 boards with their long edges running across the joists and lay successive boards in a staggered pattern.
- Apply joist adhesive. Apply a continuous 6mm bead of CaberFix Joint&Joist to the top of each joist or I-joist in the area immediately being boarded.
- Bond the T&G joints. Apply a 6mm bead of dB Panel Adhesive to the tongue-and-groove joints.
- Screw the boards. Screw through the tongue at T&G joints at every joist using 55mm chipboard screws.
- Maintain perimeter movement space. Leave a minimum 10mm expansion gap between the flooring and perimeter walls or other solid abutments.
- Support overhanging short edges. TG4 panels do not normally require support between joists, but an overhanging short edge must be supported with a noggin.
- Allow for larger areas. Long runs and larger floors can require additional movement joints in accordance with the manufacturer's technical guidance.
- Underfloor heating. West Fraser advises seeking specialist guidance where the flooring is being used with an underfloor heating system.
Common installation mistakes to avoid: laying boards without conditioning them first, installing onto wet joists, omitting adhesive from joints, failing to maintain the perimeter expansion gap, leaving an unsupported overhanging board end or installing the 18mm board across joist centres greater than those specified by the manufacturer.
