Product Information
TerraFitยฎ Active Tiles are smooth-finish rubber gym floor tiles with bevelled edges, supplied in Grey Fleck in 10mm and 15mm thicknesses. Each nominal 1m ร 1m tile covers 1mยฒ, making it straightforward to plan flooring for home gyms, fitness studios and commercial training spaces.
The high-density SBR rubber has no separate wear layer. Active Tile sits between our premium Duo flooring and more budget open-surface rubber tiles, offering a smoother finish in a convenient tile format.
Choose 10mm or 15mm
| Thickness | Size and coverage | Fixing guidance |
|---|---|---|
| 10mm | 1m ร 1m; nominal 1mยฒ | Bonding recommended, particularly for commercial applications. |
| 15mm | 1m ร 1m; nominal 1mยฒ | Suitable for loose laying or bonding, depending on the layout and use. |
Some home gym customers loose-lay the 10mm tile, but bonding remains the recommended method for this thickness. Assess whether the tiles will remain secure under the planned activity and equipment before choosing a loose-laid installation.
Recommended adhesive: Mapei Adesilex G19. Confirm substrate suitability and follow Mapei's preparation, application and curing instructions. Adhesive is sold separately.
Key benefits
- Smooth rubber surface: a practical alternative to the more open texture of budget rubber tiles.
- Bevelled edges: define the tile joints for a neat gym-floor finish.
- Resilient construction: dense rubber provides a durable surface for gym and fitness use.
- Simple estimating: one tile covers a nominal square metre before perimeter cuts.
For repeated heavy weight drops or noise-sensitive rooms below, check the complete floor build-up and whether additional impact protection is needed. Thickness alone does not establish a safe drop load or guarantee soundproofing.

Planning and fitting
Allow 48 hours before fitting. Remove packaging and restraints, take the tiles off the pallet and lay them flat in the dry installation room to acclimatise. Keep them out of direct sunlight during storage.
- Prepare a suitable base. The subfloor must be firm, dry, clean and level. Repair uneven areas before fitting.
- Inspect and dry-lay. Check condition and appearance, then plan a staggered brick-bond layout to spread minor dimensional variations and avoid four corners meeting.
- Keep joints aligned. Bring edges together firmly without stretching, forcing or excessively compressing the tiles. Check each row as you work.
- Bond where required. Use the fixing guidance above and the adhesive instructions. Do not fit excessively tightly against walls, columns or door frames; follow the guide's perimeter detailing.
- Measure individual cuts. Use a suitable heavy-duty flooring knife and straight edge with controlled passes, or suitable professional cutting equipment where required.
Quantity example: an 18.4mยฒ area needs at least 19 tiles before allowing for the layout and cutting waste. Check room dimensions and individual cuts; any extra allowance is your choice and should be applied before rounding up.
