10mm Shock Absorbing Gym Floor Underlay is a fully recycled rubber acoustic underlay designed to improve impact and airborne sound performance beneath gym flooring and other compatible floor finishes. At only 10mm thick, it is a cost-effective, space-saving way to add resilience, mass and acoustic separation to concrete or timber floor constructions.
Use it beneath suitable existing gym flooring as an upgrade, or combine it with our gym flooring range for improved system performance. The resilient rubber construction is designed to absorb footfall and structure-borne vibration while maintaining good compressive strength under demanding floor loads.
The 10mm Shock Absorbing Gym Floor Underlay is suitable for home gyms, commercial gyms, studios, leisure areas and other rooms where footfall, equipment movement or general floor noise needs to be controlled. It can also be used in residential and commercial acoustic floor systems beneath compatible soft or hard floor finishes.
The 10mm recycled-rubber layer provides a resilient separation between the floor finish and structural floor. This helps reduce the direct transfer of impact and vibration while the material's mass contributes to the airborne sound performance of the complete floor build-up.
Performance note: the quoted 39dB LnTw impact rating and 53dB DnTw + Ctr airborne rating relate to the relevant assessed floor construction and should not be read as standalone reductions from the underlay alone. Installed performance depends on the complete floor and ceiling build-up, junctions, flanking paths and workmanship.
For gym applications, lay the 10mm underlay over a suitable clean, flat subfloor before installing the compatible gym floor finish. It is particularly useful where a relatively shallow acoustic layer is needed beneath rubber gym tiles or rolls to improve resilience and reduce vibration from footfall, exercise equipment and general gym activity.
For maximum performance, combine the underlay with a suitable product from our gym flooring range. Always confirm that the selected floor finish is suitable for installation over a 10mm resilient rubber layer.

Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, level and free from sharp projections or loose debris.
Lay the 1m-wide rolls flat across the floor and fit adjoining sections closely together without gaps.
Cut the recycled rubber with a sharp long-bladed trimming knife, scoring the surface and making several passes for a clean edge.
Prevent rigid contact between the floating floor build-up and surrounding walls where the acoustic system requires perimeter isolation.
Install the selected gym flooring
Each roll measures 1m x 5m and covers 5m².
Divide the room area by 5 and round up to the next full roll. For example, a 12m² room requires 12 ÷ 5 = 2.4, so 3 rolls are required.
Pair the 10mm underlay with a compatible rubber gym floor finish for a more complete acoustic and impact-control build-up.
A practical recycled-rubber underlay for gym floors, residential projects, commercial spaces and compatible underscreed systems.
