Knauf dB Board 15mm – High Density Acoustic Plasterboard for Superior Sound Insulation

Knauf dB Board 15mm is a high-density acoustic plasterboard developed for internal wall and ceiling systems where enhanced airborne sound insulation is required. Its dense gypsum core makes it an excellent choice for residential, commercial and public sector projects, helping create quieter living and working environments when installed as part of a tested acoustic system.

Manufactured to BS EN 520, Knauf dB Board achieves a Reaction to Fire classification of A2-s1,d0 and is suitable for use within partitions, wall lining systems and suspended ceilings. Acoustic performance is dependent on the complete construction in which the board is installed.

Designed for Acoustic Systems

The increased board thickness and high-density gypsum core make the 15mm board particularly suited to acoustic wall and ceiling constructions where improved airborne sound insulation is required.

The final sound reduction achieved depends on the complete system design, including framing, insulation, cavity depth, resilient components and the number of plasterboard layers installed. Acoustic ratings should always be taken from tested system constructions rather than the plasterboard alone.

Fire Performance

Knauf dB Board 15mm is classified as A2-s1,d0 for Reaction to Fire and is manufactured in accordance with BS EN 520.

Fire resistance is determined by the complete partition or ceiling system rather than the individual board.

Installation

Knauf dB Board 15mm can be fixed to:

• Ceiling frameworks

The tapered edge simplifies jointing and finishing using suitable joint compounds and reinforcing tape. Installation should always follow current British Standards and Knauf installation guidance.

Sustainability

Knauf dB Board is manufactured from gypsum-based materials that can be recycled where suitable facilities exist. Separating gypsum waste from general construction waste helps maximise recycling opportunities and minimise landfill disposal.
