Pure-Kustik White Acoustic Absorption Panels are lightweight polyester-fibre panels designed to reduce echo, reverberation and unwanted sound build-up within rooms.

The clean white finish provides a discreet acoustic treatment for offices, schools, restaurants, studios, community buildings, places of worship and other spaces containing reflective wall and ceiling surfaces.

How It Works

Hard surfaces such as plaster, glass, concrete and timber reflect sound around a room. These repeated reflections create reverberation and echo, which can make speech difficult to understand and increase the perceived noise level.

Pure-Kustik panels introduce a sound-absorbing polyester-fibre surface to the room. Sound energy enters the open structure of the panel and is dissipated, reducing the amount of reflected sound returning to the occupied space.

This helps improve speech intelligibility, acoustic comfort and listening quality.

Construction

Pure-Kustik panels are manufactured from lightweight polyester fibre with a smooth white surface finish.

Because there is no separate decorative fabric layer, the surface cannot peel or fray in the same way as some fabric-wrapped acoustic panels.

Acoustic Performance

Pure-Kustik is described as a Class A sound absorber with a weighted sound absorption coefficient of up to αw 0.90.

The exact improvement achieved within a completed room will depend on:

• The total surface area of acoustic panels installed
• The size, shape and volume of the room
• The amount of glass, plaster, concrete and other reflective finishes
• The position and distribution of the panels
• Whether the panels are direct fixed or suspended with an air gap
• The frequency content of the noise
• The existing furniture and soft finishes within the room

Suspended panels can provide effective acoustic treatment because sound can interact with the exposed face, edges and air space behind the panel.

For large rooms, schools, restaurants or other acoustically demanding spaces, a reverberation assessment should be used to calculate the required treatment area.

Installation Guide

Direct Fix Installation

Pure-Kustik panels can be bonded directly to suitable walls and, where appropriate, ceilings using Tecsound DekoKustik Contact Spray.

This installation method does not require drilling or mechanical fixings when the receiving surface and panel size are suitable.

1. Ensure the surface is flat, clean, dry and free from loose paint, plaster, dust, oil and grease.
2. Remove loose wallpaper and roughen glossy paint where necessary.
3. Mark the final panel positions before applying adhesive.
4. Apply the contact adhesive vertically to the rear of the panel.
5. Apply the contact adhesive horizontally to the receiving wall or ceiling area.
6. Allow approximately 1–2 minutes of tack time at room temperature.
7. Carefully align the panel and bring the two surfaces into contact.
8. Apply light and even pressure using a clean pad or roller.

Suspended Installation

Suspended installation is recommended for ceiling applications and can be used to create acoustic rafts, ceiling islands or vertical baffles.

Pure-Kustik panels are suspended from the soffit using steel wires, adjustable hooks and spiral anchors fitted into the rear of the acoustic panel.

The compatible Pure-Kustik Cable Suspension Pack contains the required suspension components for four fixing points.

Each Suspension Pack Includes

• 4 x steel suspension wires, 1mm diameter and 2m long
• 4 x adjustable hooks with safety locks
• 4 x ceiling mounts
• 4 x spiral panel anchors

Recommended Fixing Points for Horizontally Suspended Panels

The number of suspension points depends on the panel size. Panels up to and including 1200mm x 1200mm use four suspension points. Larger panels require additional support to distribute the load and keep the panel level.

Positioning of Fasteners

• Position the spiral anchors symmetrically across the rear of the panel.
• Distribute the fixing points evenly to support the panel and keep it level.
• Spiral anchors must be positioned a minimum of 150mm from the panel edges.
• Use all recommended fixing points for the selected panel size.
• Do not suspend a large panel using only four fixing points.
• Confirm that the soffit and selected ceiling fixings are suitable for the applied load.

Suspended Installation Steps

1. Mark the suspension points in accordance with the panel size and recommended fixing layout.
2. Fix each ceiling base securely to the soffit using suitable structural fixings.
3. Insert the suspension wire into the ceiling mount and secure it.
4. Fit the spiral corkscrew anchors into the rear of the acoustic panel.
5. Keep every spiral anchor a minimum of 150mm from the panel edges.
6. Connect the adjustable hooks to the suspension wires and spiral anchors.
7. Raise the panel gradually and adjust each wire until the panel is level.
8. Check that every fixing, hook and safety lock is fully secure before completing the installation.

Cutting

Pure-Kustik panels can be cut and shaped on site using:

• Ceramic knife
• Filament knife
• Heavy-duty scissors
• Band saw
• Foam saw

Mark the cut accurately and support the panel during cutting to minimise damage to the finished edge.

Handling and Maintenance

• Store panels flat in a clean and dry environment.
• Do not fold, crease or crush the panels.
• Handle white panels with clean hands.
• Remove dust using a vacuum cleaner with a clean, soft brush attachment.
• Avoid aggressive scrubbing or untested cleaning chemicals.
• Protect the panels from damage during surrounding construction work.
