Installation Guide:
Suitable for Timber suspended floors, concrete subfloors and underfloor heating systems.
1. Prepare the Subfloor
Ensure the floor is:
-
- Structurally sound
- Dry and clean
- Level and fully supported
Uneven floors should be levelled using a suitable fermacell levelling compound.
2. Install Edge Isolation Strip
Fit perimeter isolation strip around all walls, columns and penetrations before laying boards to prevent sound bridging.
3. Lay the Boards
-
- Start from one corner of the room.
- Lay panels in a brick-bond pattern.
- Stagger all joints by at least 200mm.
- Trim off the exposed overlap on the first row where required.
4. Glue the Joints
Apply two continuous beads of fermacell Floor Glue to the shiplap overlap before positioning the next panel. Excess glue should squeeze from the joint when properly fitted.
5. Fix the Boards
Secure the overlaps using:
-
- 19mm fermacell flooring screws, or
- 18–19mm divergent staples
Fix at approximately 250mm centres along all joints.
6. Complete the Floor
Continue laying, gluing and fixing the panels until the floor is complete.
7. Finish
Once the adhesive has cured:
-
- Remove excess glue.
- Trim perimeter strip flush.
- Install the chosen floor finish.
The flooring system is designed to receive a final floor covering and should not normally be left exposed as the finished floor surface.
