The fermacell® 2E11 Flooring Overlay provides a fast, efficient dry screed solution for levelling and preparing subfloors before the installation of final floor finishes. Manufactured from two factory-bonded 10mm gypsum fibre boards, the fermacell® 2E11 Flooring Overlay delivers exceptional strength, dimensional stability and long-term performance in both residential and commercial applications.

Unlike traditional wet screeds, the fermacell® 2E11 Flooring Overlay eliminates lengthy drying times, helping contractors complete projects faster while creating a strong, stable and level floor surface ready for carpet, vinyl, laminate, engineered wood or tile finishes.

Suitable for timber suspended floors, concrete subfloors, refurbishment projects and underfloor heating systems, the fermacell® 2E11 Flooring Overlay combines the speed of dry construction with the durability of a high-density gypsum fibre floor panel.

Installation Guide

Step 1 – Prepare the Subfloor

Ensure the subfloor is dry, clean, level and structurally sound. Any loose material, dust or contaminants should be removed before installation.

Step 2 – Install Perimeter Isolation Strip

Fit a suitable perimeter isolation strip around walls, columns and fixed penetrations to minimise sound bridging and allow for movement.

Step 3 – Lay the Panels

Lay the fermacell® 2E11 Flooring Overlay panels in a staggered brick-bond pattern, starting from one corner of the room. Ensure all joints are tightly butted together.

Step 4 – Glue the Shiplap Joints

Apply fermacell Floor Glue to the factory-formed shiplap joint before positioning the next panel.

Step 5 – Mechanically Fix the Panels

Secure the shiplap joints using fermacell flooring screws or divergent staples to maintain pressure while the adhesive cures.

Step 6 – Install Floor Finish

Once the adhesive has fully cured, remove any excess glue and install the final floor finish in accordance with the flooring manufacturer's recommendations.

Important Installation Notes

• The fermacell® 2E11 Flooring Overlay is installed as a floating floor system.
• Suitable for timber suspended floors and concrete subfloors.
• Compatible with most underfloor heating systems.
• Not designed to be used as the finished wearing surface.
• A suitable floor covering should always be installed over the flooring overlay.
• For uneven subfloors, a suitable levelling compound should be used before installation.
